Please note there have been a number of imposters in the market that have specifically targeted people looking to invest in bonds.
In early 2021, ASIC released a warning regarding these imposter bond scams (see ASIC’s warning here). Since then, ASIC released a public warning regarding Green bonds (which can be found here) and a range of other warnings regarding specific scams, including in relation to QANTAS bonds, Telstra bonds, Treasury Bonds, High Interest Deposits. We encourage you to read ASIC’s warnings and familiarise yourself with the common tactics listed therein and urge you to remain vigilant.
As Australia’s leading fixed income specialist, imposters may try to use FIIG’s name, establish a similar-looking website, or attempt to associate themselves with FIIG in order to scam investors. Please note, official email communication from FIIG is always channelled via @fiig.com.au and FIIG staff are happy to meet you face-to-face at any of our offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Perth prior to you making any investment.
If you receive a suspicious communication purportedly from FIIG, or if you detect a website that looks familiar to FIIG’s website, we urge you to contact our office as soon as possible so that we can verify the authenticity (or otherwise) of the correspondence, and if necessary notify ASIC of any fraudulent activity.
